Pegase 2024: Long-range air projection for strengthening key partnerships in the Indo-Pacific.
The ENS Alumni is pleased to invite all students to follow a webinar hosted by the ESSEC on geostrategic matters:
For the third time in three years, mission Pegase of the French Air Force will make a stopover in Singapore from July 8 to 10, 2024. This year, the mission will be conducted within a European framework, with British, German, and Spanish forces joining the deployment. Through the integration of European allies and the diversity of air routes used, Pegase 2024 aims to develop collaborations and operational cooperations with a wide network of countries around the Indo-Pacific region, including Singapore and other ASEAN nations. The mission is set to accomplish various objectives such as high-intensity operational training, consolidating military cooperation with regional partners, strengthening interoperability, and ensuring freedom of navigation.
As part of Pegase 2024, the French Air and Space Force and the UK Royal Air Force will conduct a combine deployment named Griffin Strike 2024. The mission is being planned under the auspices of the Franco-British Combined Joint Expeditionary Force and will demonstrate the ability of the two nations to rapidly deploy a military force to the Indo-Pacific to reassure partners and demonstrate the commitment of these two European nations to the security of the region. In parallel with Griffin Strike, there will also be a mission routing west to the region via Alaska that will include German and Spanish forces.
Pegase 2024 long-range projection is an opportunity to showcase European countries' autonomous and time-constrained projection capabilities. The goal is to promote the reliable and consistent operational commitment of the French and European air Forces in the Indo-Pacific region. Enhancing regional collaborations and developing Europe-ASEAN military ties are a major component of the mission.
On this very special occasion, as we celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Entente Cordiale agreement between France and the United Kingdom, the embassy of France in Singapore, the British High Commission of Singapore and ESSEC business school are honoured to receive General Guillaume Thomas, Chief of Pegase Air Mission 2024, Colonel Eddie Maskell-Pederson, the United Kingdom Defence Adviser to Singapore and Dr Chang Jun Yan of the Rajaratnam school of international studies. These esteemed panelists will provide an exclusive and in-depth insight into the operational details of the mission and the objectives of these deployments.
