Lucas Richard, winner of Empower a Billion Lives II, 2 UGA thesis awards - Innovation and CSR
Lucas Richard, former student of ENS Paris-Saclay, was recently recognized with several awards for his research work.
At 29, Lucas Richard, a former student of the Nikola Tesla DER (2015), already has a rich career. After completing a PSI preparatory class in Lyon, he joined ENS Paris-Saclay in 2015 and specialized in electrical engineering.
His journey is marked by several internships abroad, notably in Australia and Madagascar, which reinforced his interest in issues related to rural electrification. It was this experience that led him to undertake a CIFRE thesis with the company Nanoé and the G2ELab in Grenoble, focusing on the development of solar micro-grids for rural areas in Madagascar.
His thesis, which resulted in the implementation of micro-grids powering isolated villages, earned him several distinctions.
Firstly, Lucas won the international competition Empower a Billion Lives II, organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), thanks to his innovative project aimed at improving access to energy in isolated areas.
He also received two thesis awards from the University of Grenoble Alpes: the Innovation Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Award.
These distinctions recognize the quality of his research work on renewable energies and their tangible impact on the ground.
Today, Lucas continues his work at Nanoé, with the goal of industrializing micro-grids, while maintaining a connection with academic research.
