Sebastian GURRIARAN: Laureate of the 2024 Frontiers of Science Prize | Borelli Center
ENS Paris-Saclay is proud to count among its alumni Sebastian Gurriaran, a graduate of the Mathematics Department of Teaching and Research, who is one of the 20 French laureates of the prestigious Frontiers of Science Prize 2024. This prize rewards innovative work in various scientific fields, and Sebastian was honored in the Mathematics - General Relativity category.
His work, titled 'Surface gravity of compact non-degenerate horizons under the dominant energy condition,' is directly derived from his Master 1 internship carried out in 2021. This research project focuses on a complex issue in general relativity, exploring the surface gravity of compact non-degenerate horizons under the dominant energy condition. This topic, although profoundly theoretical, has significant implications for the understanding of black holes and other extreme cosmic phenomena, strengthening our comprehension of the laws of the universe.
This recognition by the Frontiers of Science Prize not only reflects the exceptional quality of his research but also the training and support that ENS Paris-Saclay provides to its students, enabling them to distinguish themselves among the best researchers at the international level. Sebastian perfectly embodies academic excellence and the ability to contribute to the advancement of fundamental knowledge in mathematics and theoretical physics.
We warmly congratulate Sebastian Gurriaran on this remarkable achievement.
